crazy python code PSA

Hello, bloggers, these past couple of Wednesdays we have been coding a PSA.my message was to eat your vegetables because a lot of kids go hungry every day and would love to eat what we throw away. The audience is young kids, I tried to make it appealing by adding a superhero. What happens is the kid says that if you eat your veggies you will turn out like the superhero, then the superhero flies up into the air. Hope you enjoy, leave any feedback in the comments.

Hello bloggers, this week we have been doing an experiment on coke and mentos our question was would mentos react the same way with other fizzy drinks as it does with coke? Here is my scientific report on what we did, it includes the question, hypothesis, materials, variables, procedure, results, and conclusion.

Hope you enjoy, leave any feedback in the comments.

pretty ugly parachutes.

Hi, bloggers this week we made some parachutes to see what design would work best. We had to think like an engineer, we had to imagine, ask, create, and improve. Here is me and my group's work.

first, try

We used String 2 bolts Green fabric cut on corners. We had a fairly big parachute it was 40 cm long and 32 cm wide we made it fairly big because that increases drag, and it will fall slower. We thought that we should add more fabric on the top but we realized that would make it heavier. Our design fell in 1.05 seconds, which isn't very good.

second try.

We added more fabric on the bottom of the parachute so it keeps its shape.  When falling We saw it fall slower before we changed it fell in 1 sec .5 when we changed it. it fell in 2.00 seconds. We changed it one more time and added more fabric 1.44 it did bad so we took the new fabric off.

super space tic tac toe

Hello bloggers, his week for inquiry we did a space tic tac toe we had to do 3 tasks to finish it. We did this to further understand our knowledge of space and rockets. for the first slide, We had to make our own rocket and talk about the price of rockets. And for the second slide, we had to make a planet.

This is not done

do you know the names of the 8 planets?

science experiment

Hello, bloggers this term our inquiry is on science. And to prepare us we have been doing some experiments in literacy and writing about them using scientific language. This week we have done an experiment. We were seeing what would dissolve faster a crushed up aspirin or a normal aspirin.

Have you ever done a scientific experiment?

Weeks blog post

Hi, bloggers here is this week's blog post.

For maths, we did a worksheet on liner numbers and spatial patterns.

here is my one we marked it after and I got at least half of the questions correct.

And here is my inquiry work it is on global issues. I am doing my work on clean drinking water which is a big problem in third world countries https://water.org/.It is a work in progress.

And for literacy, I made a book cover on book creator for my fractured fairy tale, called the three little farmers.
If you could fracture a fairy tale what would you change?

Samoan art

Kia ora bloggers this week we made Samoan art.

We made one of the oldest and most important traditions of Samoa is the Siapo or Tapa.  It is a type of cloth made from the bark of the mulberry tree.  It is very time-consuming, because the bark must be harvested, stripped, separated, scraped, and beaten before it can be used.  It is then laid out in the sun to dry.

The artist uses natural dyes, created from items such as berries, bark, and nuts to make patterns on the cloth.

There are 13 traditional patterns used on siapo that represent things common to Samoan cultures such as nets, coconut leaves, shells, and flowers.

Here is my design. Hope you enjoy it.

The background is brown dye.

irony comic

Kia ora this week in inquiry we have been learning about irony here is me and my friends comic.
I think I did pretty good.
The irony is that it looks like I'm doing work but I'm looking at memes instead. it's ironic because its The opposite of what you expect. this type of irony is situational irony.  [:

have you ever made a comic strip? ]

Tremendous three little pigs.

Kia ora bloggers today for literacy we have been working out the main points of a story. The points are the climax, rising action, background, falling action, and resolution. We did it on rohal dahls revolting rhymes book where he changes up the fairy tale. The fairy tale we chose was the three little pigs. What we had to do was make a castle and put our writing around it. Here is my on  hope you enjoy. [:

awsome adobe spark

Kia ora bloggers,
This week for literacy we have been learning about inferencing and show not tell.  When we read something, we automatically start making inferences, so it is important when we write that we give clues in our writing that allow people to make inferences.  We want to show them - not tell them.
For example:  Paul was frustrated when he got to the bus stop and realised he had just missed the bus.  But instead I could write “Running as fast as he could, Paul turned the corner only to see the back of the bus as it pulled away.  Throwing his bag down on the ground and sighing out loud, Paul realised that he had no choice, but to sit and wait for the next bus to arrive - 20 minutes from now”  You can infer from me saying ‘throwing his bag down and sighing out loud’ that he is frustrated.
Our task was to create a video that accompanied a piece of writing about an elderly man.  We used Adobe Spark to do this.
Have a look at my video and see if you can you make some inferences about what I have written.
Do you think the elderly man is happy?

terrible twits

Kia ora Bloggers,

This week we have been looking carefully at making inferences when we read or watch something.

An inference is when we take clues from a text or image, and
add them to our thoughts or prior knowledge and make an inference.
What’s going on in this picture? Look closely at the image above or view it in a <a href="https://static01.nyt.com/images/2020/04/17/learning/VTS04-20-20LN/VTS04-20-20LN-superJumbo.jpg">larger size</a>, then tell us what you see by posting a comment. On Thursday afternoon, we will reveal more about the image and its origins at the bottom of this post. For example,  when I look at this photo, I might make the inference that
this photo was taken in a food factory as everyone is wearing hair
nets and this is required in all food factories.

The text that we read a snippet out of was ‘The Twits’ by Roald Dahl.
Once we had read the first few chapters where they described the main characters, Mr. and Mrs. Twit, we then had to make some inferences based on the clues that Roald Dahl had given in the text.

Have you read the Twits before?

See you in the next post.

my diary entry

Today we did a diary entry on what it's like in isolation here is my one.

It's been 21 days in lockdown now and it's getting really boring. The thing that Has changed the most is school. We do it online now instead of in class. It's boring because we can't go out and see our friends or play sports. And we have to stay two meters away from anyone not in our bubble. I miss playing football the most but at least I get to play on my device a lot.

leave any feedback in the comments thank you.
