awsome adobe spark

Kia ora bloggers,
This week for literacy we have been learning about inferencing and show not tell. When we read something, we automatically start making inferences, so it is important when we write that we give clues in our writing that allow people to make inferences. We want to show them - not tell them.
For example: Paul was frustrated when he got to the bus stop and realised he had just missed the bus. But instead I could write “Running as fast as he could, Paul turned the corner only to see the back of the bus as it pulled away. Throwing his bag down on the ground and sighing out loud, Paul realised that he had no choice, but to sit and wait for the next bus to arrive - 20 minutes from now” You can infer from me saying ‘throwing his bag down and sighing out loud’ that he is frustrated.
Our task was to create a video that accompanied a piece of writing about an elderly man. We used Adobe Spark to do this.
Have a look at my video and see if you can you make some inferences about what I have written.
Do you think the elderly man is happy?

maths

Kia ora Bloggers,
This week in maths we have been looking at angles and polygons. We have been determining the interior angles of a shape as well as drawing some shapes using a compass- not a North/South compass, but a pair of compasses that you draw circles with. Kia
A little run down of my knowledge is this.

And here are some examples of the work we have done on angles.

Have you ever drawn anything other than a circle with a compass? Here is the link to a tutorial showing you how to do it. Have

wonderful worksheet maths.

kia ora bloggers welcome to week one hope you have a good day.

In maths this week we learned how to read angles on a protracter and to help we did a worksheet.
The task was to answer all the questions and use an online protractor to get the angles.
I think I did pretty good.

Doing this made me confident with Angles and now I know how to read a protracter. Thanks for looking at my post see you next week.

terrible twits

Kia ora Bloggers,

This week we have been looking carefully at making inferences when we read or watch something.

An inference is when we take clues from a text or image, and
add them to our thoughts or prior knowledge and make an inference.
What’s going on in this picture? Look closely at the image above or view it in a larger size, then tell us what you see by posting a comment. On Thursday afternoon, we will reveal more about the image and its origins at the bottom of this post. For example, when I look at this photo, I might make the inference that
this photo was taken in a food factory as everyone is wearing hair
nets and this is required in all food factories.

The text that we read a snippet out of was ‘The Twits’ by Roald Dahl.
Once we had read the first few chapters where they described the main characters, Mr. and Mrs. Twit, we then had to make some inferences based on the clues that Roald Dahl had given in the text.

Have you read the Twits before?

See you in the next post.

This weeks blog post

this week for Friday tasks I did a task on making an animal enclosure and your hand to make your dream for any animal an answer some questions

 • What is similar about them and what is different? nearly all of them have water but the difference is the animals that live there
 • Why would there need to be differences in each enclosure? because some animals live in water some live in snow and some live in the mountains etc.
 • What do animals need? animals need food and water like us and some animals need to swim in water like fish
 • Is it the same for humans? not really because we have a roof over our head

in my enclosure, I would have a massive body of water for my honey badger and big trees every were with big rocks to climb and lodes of food.
